The Tampa Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers scholarships to Tampa area university students seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Eligibility

  • Female Undergraduate Junior, Undergraduate Senior or Graduate Student 
  • Full time enrollment (Undergraduate must have minimum of 12 credit hours)
  • STEM Major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Resident of the State of Florida
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Financial Need

AAUW Tampa Branch 2025-2026 STEM Scholarship Recipients

Name: Sally Herrick
Major: PharmD
Hometown: Crestwood, KY
Graduation Year: 2027
School-based leadership role(s) and/or student organization(s): Class President during 1st year and 3rd year of pharmacy school; Speak on behalf of classmates and act as representative to faculty and staff at USF. AphA-USP Co-Chair: Policy Committee; Assist in the Legislative Days trip to Tallahassee, FL where we advocated on behalf of our pharmacy profession. Executive Student Leadership Board; Collaborated with college administration and faculty to address student concerns and enhance the student experience; Played a key role in planning and executing school-wide events, including social gatherings, professional development opportunities, and community outreach programs.
Future aspirations: Sally plans to become a Compounding Pharmacist leader/mentor/advocate. Her future aspirations are to become a pharmacist specializing in compounding pharmacy, creating personalized medications for patients with unique needs. She also aims to explore pharmaceutical law to advocate for patients and navigate healthcare complexities. Ultimately, she hopes to improve patient care and address healthcare disparities, particularly for underserved populations.

School based leadership role(s) and/or student organization(s): Naomi is currently on the Student Advisory Board for the USF College of Public Health Activist Lab, Secretary for the Graduate & Professional Student Council (GPSC), Recruitment Co-Chair for Eta Sigma Gamma – Delta Kappa Chapter, Graduate Research Assistant at the USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences, Program Assistant for the Office of Transfer Student Success, Scholar at the Institute for Translational Research Education in Adolescent Substance Use (ITRE), and more! 
Future aspirations: Naomi plans to pursue a PhD in Social and Community Sciences with the ultimate goal of research on children and adolescent behavioral health.

Future aspirations
: After graduation, Ayla plans to pursue a Master’s degree. She wants to apply what she learned from undergraduate healthcare research and delve into graduate level research. Ayla  will be attending conferences focused on industrial engineering in health care systems and general industrial engineering careers to open many doors to future career paths. Her main goal is to enter the healthcare industry as an industrial engineer and improve the lives of others, especially those who face the most obstacles navigating the healthcare system. 


The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a vibrant non- profit and non-partisan national organization whose members have been working to impact the lives of girls and women since 1881. The organization’s mission is advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. The national agenda includes but is not limited to critical issues that affect girls and women such as equity issues in the workplace, reproductive rights, human trafficking, Title IX, civil rights, and education.


Tampa AAUW is working in our community to empower women and young girls

We continue to vigorously:

  1. Support AAUW National in its quest for equal pay.
  2. Increase our local membership to improve our local impact.
  3. Provide local upper-class college students with financial support through scholarships.
  4. Sponsor young girl’s participation in the Tech Trek Summer Camp

Please join AAUW Tampa Branch on the third Saturday of the month from September through May. Our meetings will take place at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. Meetings are from 11 a.m.- 1p.m. and doors open at 10:30 am.
